Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register as a buyer on Retrade?
Select "Register" and create a user account for Retrade.eu. Your email address will also be your username, and you must choose a password containing at least 8 characters, one uppercase letter, and one number. Confirm your email address via the link sent to you by email and complete the registration as either a company or a private customer. Please ensure that all information is entered correctly, as it will be used for invoicing purposes when making purchases. Tick the box if you would like to receive information from Retrade by email. You are now registered; however, in some cases your details may be subject to manual verification and approval before your account is activated. You will receive an email as soon as your account has been activated.

I have forgotten my password. What should I do?
Enter your email address in the username field and click "Reset Password". You will receive instructions by email shortly on how to create a new password.

I represent multiple companies, or I would like to buy both as a company and as a private individual.
That is perfectly fine. You may have multiple accounts, but you will need separate email addresses for each account.

I am unable to place a bid, or I have received a message saying that my account is blocked.
If you have recently registered an account, it may in some cases require approval before activation. Please contact support@retrade.eu for assistance.

How can I find out more about a product?
Each product listing contains detailed information, images, Condition Assessments and supporting documentation where available.

I have noticed that an item I viewed previously is being auctioned again.
This may be because the item was not sold in the first auction, or because the winning bidder failed to comply with Retrade's terms and conditions.

Where and how do I collect the product I have purchased?
Collection is arranged directly between buyer and seller. The buyer is responsible for all collection and transport costs unless otherwise agreed.

Can I cancel a purchase made through Retrade?
The statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to purchases of used products through online auctions. All bids are legally binding.

I arrived to collect a product, but it does not match the description or Condition Assessment. What should I do?
Complaints can only be submitted at the time of collection. Do not take the item with you if you wish to file a complaint.

How do I calculate the total amount that will appear on my invoice?
The total invoice amount consists of your bid amount + auction fee + payment charges + any applicable VAT.

Is VAT always added to the bid amount?
For purchases where both the buyer and seller are registered in the same country, local VAT applies. Local VAT is also added to all Norwegian sales, except registered vehicles. Cross-border purchases from EU countries are sold without VAT to buyers with valid VAT numbers.

The invoice shows a commission. Isn't this already included in my bid?
The commission is included in your bid amount, but is displayed as part of the total invoice amount.

How do I pay for a product purchased through Retrade?
Payment instructions are sent by email after winning an auction. The invoice is sent by e-mail and available for download in your account. Payment is due within 5 days of the invoice date.

The item I have purchased will be financed by a bank or leasing company.
Please ensure financing is arranged before the auction closes and contact support with the relevant financing details.

How can I change my contact information?
You can update your details under "My Account" when logged in.

I do not wish to receive newsletters. What should I do?
Log in to "My Account" and untick the option to receive information by email.

Can I follow an auction without placing a bid?
Yes. Add the auction to your favourites to receive notifications before it closes.

Can I receive notifications when auctions matching my interests are published?
Yes. Save searches and filters to receive email alerts when matching items are listed.

Who determines the reserve price?
The reserve price is determined by the seller in cooperation with the broker.

Who carries out the Technical Condition Report?
The report is carried out by the seller or an approved representative.

Who is responsible for the information provided about a product?
The seller is responsible for ensuring that all information accurately reflects the condition of the item.

My bid is immediately outbid by a bid that appears to have been placed before mine.
The other bidder has used the Auto Bid function, which automatically increases bids according to the bidding rules.

Can I change my Auto Bid?
Yes. Before your maximum bid has been reached, you may increase or decrease your maximum amount.

I have the highest bid and the auction has ended. What happens now?
If the reserve price has been met, you will receive an invoice. If not, your bid remains binding for a further 48 hours where the seller can accept your bid. If not, you will be contacted by the auction broker or Retrade support during this period to see if you can reach an agreement closer to the seller's reserve price.

When is payment released to the seller?
Once the item has been collected and marked as delivered, settlement funds may be released to the seller. The payment is automatically released to the seller when the collection deadline is reached.
